He published undercover agent Valerie Plame's name, possibly endangering her life and the lives of her contacts, while Judith Miller, who was also offered the CIA agent's name by unknown BushJr Administration sources, was ordered to jail. Miller didn't publish, Novak did, so who should do time until he/she coughs up the names of the guilty? Assuming a journalist has no right to protect a confidential government source who is attempting and does in fact commit a federal felony, compromising national security in time of war, why shouldn't the journalist who actually did assist those government sources commit the federal felony be jailed, rather than the one who declined to betray the United States? Why can Robert Novak, a conservative Washington columnist, betray the United States, endangering the lives of its agents, and why can he do this with impunity. If, by chance, he's already given investigators the names, why haven't they been released to the public as is common practice for the FBI when they release a 'name of interest'. They wouldn't withold the names until after the election, now would they? Of course not ;-) They wouldn't protect a right wing columnist, now would they?
