It's the 21st century...

An age of extreme technical achievements
from below the oceans to above the sky,
but an age when much of the developing world lacks clean drinking water,
oil pipelines span continents,
but water pipelines barely span provinces.

Dean Kamen has invented two machines, each the size of half a refrigerator. One can provide safe drinking water from any source of water, but it needs electricity to run. The other machine generates enough electricity for 100 people, and is fueled by cow dung.

Now, why isn't the cow dung occupying the US congress debating how many of these machines to mass-produce and ship throughout the developing world?
