Bush Deception on Social Security

  • Bush Plans Push On Social Security
  • You've heard that Bush wishes to allow American workers to divert 2 percent of their Social Security taxes into private accounts?

Watch very carefully how sentences are parced!
It's actually 2 percent of total income!
That amounts to 32% of an individual's Social Security taxes!

The 2 percent they deceptively refer to is 2 of the 6.2 percent individuals contribute.

    2 ÷ 6.2 = .32 or 32%

It's a clever psychological trick to create the appearance that we're talking about a small portion of Social Security's revenues.
